Born from the Kingbees, two new groups would emerge following different influences but both embedded in the sixties musical revolution. The Other Four would perform soul and R and B songs whereas My Generation drew inspiration from the new pop-rock culture such as Yardbirds, John Mayall, Spencer Davis, Cream and Hendrix.

Singer Ken B. Johnson and his cousin Ken A. Johnson on bass invited drummer Barry Collenette and guitarist Pete Frampton to join up. Initially a five piece with Vic Mahy who left the band after a few months.

The band was popular at venues and dance halls and worked well together as an ensemble which proved valuable when they took part in a competition held in Jersey's Springfield ballroom to find the top band in the Channel Islands.

Sponsored by Coca Cola it was an important fixture with the promise of an opportunity to go to the UK to take part in a nationwide event held in London.

The band won the competition and in January 1967 the band travelled to London to appear at Streatham ice rink in the national heats. Coca Cola laid on a series of treats for the band and a Guernsey performer Richard Loring, appearing in West-end theatres, organised a recording session at the famous Tin Pan Alley studio Regent Sound.

Many a band of the era had recorded there and it was an opportunity not to be missed. Pete had written several songs for the band and the two songs chosen for the session were “Keep Left” and “Getting Out” which had fared well with audiences.

Denmark St. shops loaned equipment for the recording and the usual three hour session produced the two demos recorded on 4 track recording equipment. The engineer was called Adrian who was very helpful and explained to Pete some of the techniques he was using , in particular the use of a limiter on the guitar to get a tight sound..

At the time the boys were not successful at procuring a recording contract and each received an acetate of the recording.

Archives collected by Pete , the only remaining member musically active, contained the Coca Cola photo shoot in Piccadilly and the acetate produced at that session.
Guernsey musician and producer Mark le Gallez suggested completing the project some 58 years later. Mod Rock from 1967.

The Single is available from F.A.B. records with a limited run of only 250 copies 125 white and 125 black.
